GOOD NEWS! Our hero who is considering running for the Leadership of the House of Representatives (since you don’t have to be a member to run it) is now, also, considering running for President of the U.S.A. (…since, according to the Originalists on the Supreme Court: We should ‘Let the people Decide’ who can and cannot run for President – and not have to pay attention to anything the Constitution has to say about it. As a matter of fact, there is nothing in the Constitution prohibiting anybody from holding both positions at the same time. You could look it up.)
AND SO IT IS NEW YEAR’S…(FINALLY)…Let us Wring out the old… the old bad stuff, that is…not just Wring out the Old because it is Old.
- Let’s see, on the one hand: …Last year Americans: Got heavier. …Lived shorter lives than before. …Were pretty evenly split on whether or not Trump is a criminal. …Took more drugs, legal & otherwise, than ever before. …Broke all records on Credit Card debt & Delinquencies. …Found fewer homes for them to live in than were required, (In several cities, i.e., NYC, Atlanta – it was found there were more B&B’s available than were/are apartments to rent.) …Went to the church of their choice less than before. ,.. Thought & prayed over the victims of more than 652 “Mass Shootings (defined as either killing 2 or more people, 0r 3 or more people – you pick). …Thought & prayed over the deaths of more than 6,000 children killed by guns, or killed by people (with guns) – you pick. …Misbehaved on Airplanes more than previously known (Some say this is because of Airline shortcomings… i.e., baggage pricing, little overhead rack space, small seats & little leg-room, hidden costs, bad – to no food, grumpy overworked staff…things like that.)…Not to mention the ‘Political Situation’…and ‘Overhead rivers, or Heat Wave records, or Rising and Red Tides…It was one “H…E…Double Hockey Sticks” of a Year…
- On the other hand: The Economy in the U.S. is truly booming…Unemployment is way down. Inflation is down, the price of eggs is down. Gas at the pump is down…Wages for the working man are up across the board. Demand is up, Supply chains are returning to pre-pandemic efficiencies. The Fed seems to be in control of its interest rate moves, the Stock Markets are at all time highs. Crime rates are down in every category. (Except auto thefts…but insurance covers those sometimes.) The Fans are loving (and paying more for): Football, Baseball, Basketball, Rock & Country stars more than ever…Domestic tourism is heading to all time highs…The U.S. is where a lot of the world wants to be…(that is both the good & bad news of it.)
- Some things which might have kept you up at night during the past year: *Putin in Ukraine, or Putin in Syria, or just Putin – wherever he is. *Whether we can drink milk, or not. *Potential rise in interest rates. *Israel & Gaza & Hamas & Bibi. *Bedbugs in movie theaters. *Your dog. *Climate Change & the Deniers. *The Loopholes you can’t stop thinking about which were in the mindless Netflix movie you just watched for hours on end…*Should your x-mas tree have been ‘Real’ or ‘Artificial’? Which tree is worse for the environment? *…and many other topics, too many to mention here.
- The best ‘Study’ I read during the year proved: That if a wheel sits in a forest and a mouse finds it – he will run on it. The conclusion of this study is: “Mice run for fun”. Somehow, this gladdens me in this best of all possible worlds.
