SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR A CHANGE:
- I have been told there are an infinite number of universes out there and it is possible there are world’s in which we are actually living that have different realities than the one in which we presently exist. This is to say, that somewhere – right now – Trump did not win the election…in fact he has just been sentenced, for the rest of his life, to State and Federal prisons. I am a much happier person in that world. Maybe, my friend Musk could take me there in one of his Spacecrafts so I could meet my happier self.
- Back in this world, back in the day when my parents did not know what to do for me on Sunday mornings, for a while they tried sending me to ‘Catechism’…aka Sunday school… in the basement of Saint Anne”s church. It was there that Sister Marie told us God made Heaven and Earth. I raised my hand and asked if God also made the telephone poles. Sister Marie came over to me and slapped my hand and told me not to be rude in the House of the Lord. When I told my mom & dad about being slapped, they never sent me to Sister Marie’s dungeon of torture again. The downside, however, is: I never found out who or what made all the telephone poles. I’ll wager the children of today will be able to figure out who made what after they read those bibles that are going to be in all the classrooms…the ones with the Constitution in them… the ones that will have the name of the President of the United States on them. Today’s kids won’t have as many stupid questions to ask as I had – back in the day. If they do ask a stupid question they could have a real full blown teacher deal with the problem; not just a woman in a weird black outfit. Failing that, the Governor of the State could get involved and prohibit such questions, altogether. Why do I ramble on about this? Because I realize I am much confused about the goings on in this world today…and I wonder if I had been able to stick it out in Sister Marie’s class – if things would be more understandable. Telephone poles be damned. I should have gone along with whatever she had to say.
- I know some people who “do not follow the news”. I do not know how they do it or, make that: ‘do not do it’. Ok, maybe they follow some sports, maybe some price deals advertised with the news, maybe some Netflix alerts…but these people do not follow ‘the lying news’, or the depressing news, or the ‘what can you do about it anyway’ news. To my shock, I am beginning to believe there are more of these people than there are of my ‘news following people.
