Readings and musings which came my way this week:
- “When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.” -Franklin Leonard (True That)
- “If you don’t have anything to say, Don’t say anything – and you will appear wise.”( -I said that. I don’t know where it came from).
- There are more chess game variations than observable atoms in the universe….today chess is played by an estimated 600 million people …I think this was announced on FOX instead of the President’s speech on how he was reducing some drug costs up to 800%. (TDS, I’ll admit)
- “How can anyone govern a country with 246 varieties of Cheese?” -General DeGaulle, Circa 1960)...
- The projections for AI-led energy demands are so high that Tech companies are banking on ambitious energy breakthroughs to offset unsavory emissions and power the future. A literal Deus ex Machine….(I’m also reading we may solve the Nuclear Waste problem any day now.)
- The report is in: Children under 13 should not have smartphones…and smartphones are worse for girls than boys. (… the majority of people over 60 are not smart enough to use smartphones to any meaningful extent…and many of them are in Congress and on the Supreme Court.)
- I read: “These are unprecedented times…”… -from a U.S. Senator defending the need for ICE…so the Past is not Prologue after all? Did you ever notice that”U.S.” is US?…I learned this from the Number One Guy, who was marveling at this observation in a recent speech to the nation.
- There was a Sci-Fi movie a couple years back (With Bruce or Arnold) and the good guy goes to Mars or someplace, and needs to fight a mean dictator – and we find the bad guy is just an ugly living head running things from inside some gang member’s stomach…I think that’s how it went. It was shocking; but I am more shocked by where our current bad guy is coming from – and I don’t have to go to Mars to find him.
‘Tis the Season to be jolly. Have a merry, merry Christmas
