Our staff, the minds of which are represented by the above stuffed animals, are keeping a nightly vigil, eagerly awaiting the outcome of the Iowa election or whatever it is that is going on out there. Will humans brave the weather and vote? Will an unconvicted criminal win in a landslide? What is going on in America? Or is it just Iowa? …If these questions are not answered soon, we may have to go to New Hampshire for another Photo-op.

THOUGHTS ON NOTES:
- I read a study showing: Learning to throw helped Man to evolve. There is a Major League pitcher who gets over $70 million to throw the ball… That’s six zeroes…and there are four other pitchers who rake in over $40 million a season…That is pure evolvement, if you ask me. More studies need be made.
- I also read in a study: Pessimism is physically draining and Pessimists have shorter lives than the others. Me? I’m too old to die young, According to this study I should have died years ago. To lift up my spirits I read an “Optimist’s Report”. The other day this Report was happy over the fact that San Francisco was granted the legal right to put a net under the Bridge so they can catch the people in the netting who want to jump off the Bridge and commit suicide….weIl, if that is all the Optimists can come up with – count me a die-hard Pessimist..
- Yale and Harvard each have over $40 billion (that’s 9 zeros, I think) in Endowment Funds. A few years ago, Yale stated it paid out $480 million in Investment Manager fees for that year. That same year Yale paid out $170 million in Tuition Assistance. I don’t know how much Harvard paid out; but they are almost as smart as Yale, so it’s probably nearly the same. Einstein said no one can understand a million of anything…so that is why these figures are so hard for me to grasp.
- It is said that Electromagnetic Noise, caused by “X”-ing – (formally known as Tweeting) and FaceBooking and TicToking and Ya-de-dee-ya… is hurting Avian Navigation to the point where birds are showing up in the wrong places … dazed and confused by all the ‘noise’…my suspicion is this noise is affecting some humans as well…people driving while texting, voting for crazy people…those sorts of things. More studies need be made.

A few quotes:
- “All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence, and then success is sure.” -Mark Twain…from a Quote list on the subject of “Optimism”
- “Winning is the most important thing in my life, after breathing. Breathing first, winning next.” -George Steinbrenner
- “Money is not the only thing, it is everything.” -cem, updating the bromide often mis-attributed to Vince Lombardi: “Winning isn’t the only thing, it is everything.”
