ITEMS YOU MAY NOT HAVE NOTICED:
- Climate Change (if you believe in such a thing): Thanks to ice meltings in the northeastern Arctic, shipping routes from China to Europe have been cut by 5,000 miles – making some transportation costs go down a bit…so this Climate Change thing is not all bad.
- New studies show we are not ‘Left Brained’ (Dealing with Math and other painful activities) or ‘Right Brained’ (Dealing with Art and other non-productive activities)…as much as we are ‘Top Brained’ or ‘Bottom Brained’…the Top specializing in taking action and the Bottom in doing daily analysis. So, a person who gets on a ship in China going to Marseilles because he knows he is saving 5,000 miles of transportation costs is, perhaps, ‘Left Brained’ and ‘Top Brained’ – with a smattering of ‘Bottom Brained thrown in. A ‘Right Brained’ person, with no Top or Bottom, would not get on that ship because he/she would stay quietly in Paris and paint a picture. Who is the smarter here? But what about ‘IQ’s?…how do they fit in, in all this?
- A major Political Party in the U.S. is arguing it does not want the U.S. to spend as much money on Education as it has in the past. Studies (again with the ‘Studies’) show the U.S. is rated 17th among the developed nations, as far as quality of Education is concerned. Apparently, “We” like Education – “We” just don’t want to pay for it. Is this an example of what happens when you have an “Upside Downed Brain” ? More may be revealed.
- Here are some articles I did not read this week because I’d have had to pay $99, for each, to subscribe to the publishers. 1) “How to Age Gracefully, or Better” (It says in the ‘Promo- piece’ this article was written by a 30 year old. I wanted to read it to see what kind of an under-developed Brained child would dare to presume to write such a thing.) 2) “One Sleep Habit for a Longer Life” (I think in case Trump does not win the election, I might want to live a little longer – so, I could use that sleep habit; but I could only afford it if Trump loses. It is getting complicated) 3) “How Families Get Stuck Living at Major U.S. Airports” (I did not know this was a problem. It goes to show you can’t keep up with everything these days. Russia, Israel, $480 Million, Overhead Rivers, Price of Gas, Taylor Swift’s romance …and now families are stuck at major U.S. airports and I can’t even afford to know what to do about it.) 4) “Ten Things You Can Do If You Are Barely Scraping By” (I Suppose the first thing you could do is not put this article on your credit card if you are close to Max’d out.)

A few salient Quotes:
- “It Gets late early out there” – Yogie Berra
- “The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all your Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it.” -Omar Khayyam…I wonder how much the Moving Finger charges per article.
That’s all I can get out of my head for the week…You have a good one….And a fond “Hello” to all you Open Minded Folk, Short & Tall, left or right or top or bottomed brained, out there…
